The closing of one door is the opening of another, and these opening doors come with the smell of new foods. From a new brunch location to authentic Vietnamese food, here’s a glimpse of what’s newly opened and what’s soon to come.
Phở Việt — 405 Poyntz Ave.
Manhattan’s first Vietnamese restaurant opened in July, bringing authentic southern Vietnamese phở downtown. The menus are customizable and available online on Facebook and Instagram, featuring items like phở, rice, coffee, Vietnamese boba and more.
Full Circle Diner + Cocktails — 1112 Moro St.
According to its Facebook, Full Circle Diner + Cocktails is “bringing breakfast to the ‘Ville.” The new retro brunch spot and weekend cocktail lounge plans to open in September, replacing the old Hunam Express with a “disco-forward” diner and breakfast menu.
Loca Lime — 1800 Tacos and Tequila — 1116 Moro St.
Loca Lime, or 1800 Tacos and Tequila, is a Mexican restaurant set to replace Gordo’s Restaurante Mexicano.
“1800 Tacos and Tequila is kind of their corporate name,” Dennis Cook, executive director of the Aggieville Business Association, said. “[The owner has] opened up one in Leonardville, he’s opening up one in Clay Center, so he names them all differently. This one’s going to be called Loca Lime.”
Cook said both Loca Lime and Full Circle Diner + Cocktails have done a lot of remodeling work, and they plan to open before the first K-State home football game.
Aggieville Brewing Company — 612 Pillsbury Drive & 1123 Moro St.
Aggieville Brewing Company is a microbrewery and restaurant that opened in January on Pillsbury Drive. They’re working to open a second location in Aggieville at 1123 Moro Street, across the street from Full Circle and Loca Lime.
“They’re going to be in the old Pizza Hut location,” Cook said. “That looks like [the opening date] will probably be right after the first of the year.”
