Biden and Trump win Kansas Presidential Preference Primary

Both candidates clinched their parties’ nominations a week prior

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump won their respective races in Kansas’ Presidential Preference Primary Tuesday, with a rematch imminent for November.

According to unofficial results, Biden won 35,369 of 42,206 Democrat votes while Trump won 71,077 of 93,482 Republican votes. According to Kansas’ election statistic data, this means 8.4% of registered Democrats voted while 10.7% of registered Republicans voted.

Although Biden has clinched the Democrat party nomination, Jason Palmer and Marianne Williamson kept themselves in the running. Palmer received 497 votes while Williamson received 1,453.

Despite Trump being the only candidate left in the Republican field, over 18,000 votes were cast for other candidates, most notably Nikki Haley at 15,131.

The “none of the names” option received 4,330 votes on the Democrat side and 4,913 on the Republican side.

Biden and Trump won every other March 19 primary election in the following states: Arizona, Florida, Illinois and Ohio.
