A game that started at 11 a.m. and wrapped up just past 7:30 p.m. resulted in a Kansas victory as they swept Kansas State to remain in first place in the Big 12 conference.
After a dissatisfying first matchup against in-state rivals Kansas, the Kansas State Wildcats came into game two with a wiped-clean mindset. But it wouldn’t be enough to overtake the No. 16 Kansas Jayhawks, who took the victory with a late comeback, 10-8.
Lawrence’s Allen Field House was electric with fans as the Kansas Jayhawks recognized their seniors, along with the second matchup of the Sunflower Showdown. In the sea of red and blue, some purple patches attended the rivalry as well. Kansas State would have a difficult time containing the Jayhawks' offensive flow and dynamic atmosphere as Kansas took the win 104-85 ahead of the Big 12 Tournament next week.

As Kansas State traveled to Allen Fieldhouse for the women’s basketball Sunflower Showdown, the Kansas Jayhawks weren’t going to let the Wildcats get a win in their house. Kansas pulled away early and kept the pace throughout the high-scoring game to seal the win, 83-61.
