Two sections of Mid-Campus Drive closed for construction on March 16, temporarily closing for the remainder of the school year.
The first section, from Claflin Road to Jardine Drive, will be closed from March 16 to June 30. The closure will affect the area near the construction site of the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center and Dole Hall. Both lanes of Mid-Campus Drive, from the Claflin Road intersection to approximately 750 feet north of it, will be closed to traffic during the construction period.
Surrounding parking lots, including B4, B10, B11, B12 and B13, will remain open to the public during construction. However, students and pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk west of Mid-Campus Drive near Dole and Umberger Hall until further notice.
The other section of campus that’s closed off is the roundabout east of the Morris Family Multicultural Student Center to the Vattier Street intersection next to Kedzie Hall and Anderson Hall.
Some students have to adapt to these construction routes and rearrange their schedules to get to class on time.
“I think the construction takes up a large part of campus,” Collin Strum, sophomore in finance said. “It feels like a part of campus is sectioned off, and it creates a lot more walking as a result.”
