Springtime is officially upon us, bringing tulips, a higher UV and most importantly, spring break. After a long three quarters of exams, late nights and the dreaded discussion board, we all deserve a relaxing spring break trip.
Whether you are traveling east or west, this spring break outfit itinerary will keep you busy yet relaxed and, of course, stylish. First, let’s go over the airport look because your vacation starts when you step off the plane.
A pair of loose, comfortable pants is preferable for a plane ride, but you still want to look put-together. Choosing a versatile pair also allows for potential rewearing during your trip. I have been obsessed with the John Galt “Priscilla Pants,” which have a comfy wide leg, yet are stylish and perfect for plane rides.
To go on top, you’re going to need a thicker sweater that can keep you warm in the cold airplane air, but can easily be taken off in case it gets hot. With its comfy hood, the “Line Drive Hoodie” from Free People is perfect for plane naps, and the oversized fit makes it an easy layer to shed.
Now that we’ve got the outfit, let’s talk about packing. I don’t know about you, but I am a tried-and-true Vera Bradley duffel bag girl. Vera Bradley duffel bags last forever, hold all the essentials and most importantly, come in so many different designs!
We have arrived at our destination. A warm breeze, palm trees blocking the hot sun and an ice-cold beverage in hand, I can almost feel it now. First things first, after we set down our bags, we need to go relax, and nothing is more relaxing than shopping, duh.
Exploring local boutiques and kitschy souvenir shops is essential for a successful vacation, but so is a fabulous outfit. I have been loving all of Target’s new spring collections, and especially the adorable yet chic “Balloon Short Sleeve Mini Shirtdress” from A New Day. I love the blue and white palm tree print and will definitely be wearing this on my spring break vacay.
Target also just launched a collection with Roller Rabbit, which is to-die-for! The “Vacation Drop Waist Mini Dress” comes in a perfect pastel print for a tropical spring break.
If you’re more of a long dress gal, I suggest shopping at Farm Rio, as they have so many beautiful spring dresses. The “Fruit Beauty Maxi Dress” is breathtaking and picture-perfect for a tropical getaway, and I am enamored with its delicate fruit-print detailing.
If you’re not a dress gal at all, the “LyreBird Summer Sparkle Tank Top” from Anthropologie is begging to be worn on a spring break trip. The sparkly pastel stripes are adorable, and paired with a pair of my favorite Zara “Curved High-Waisted Denim Shorts” and some flip flops, this outfit is effortlessly coastal chic.
Next, we need to start working on our tan and spend a few hours lounging on the sand listening to the crashing waves. To hold all your beach day essentials — a Jersey Mike’s sub, a waterproof speaker and a beach towel — you’re going to need the perfect beach bag.
Straw tote bags are trending right now, but they aren’t waterproof, and many times don’t hold their shape. Instead, the best beach bag is a large terry cloth tote, like the “Cabana Stripe Terry Beach Tote” from Mark and Graham. Its bold stripes are stylish and a great bonus!
To go in our beach bag, we need the perfect cover-up and flip flops. With its beautifully intricate crochet detailing, the “Crocheted Cotton Mini Dress” from Akoia Swim effortlessly takes your beach look from sandy and wet to chic and put-together.
While any basic pair of flip-flops will do, the Havaianas x Farm Rio collaboration flip-flops are fun and add personality to a usually boring pair of shoes, and there are many different colorful designs to choose from.
Now let’s talk about the most important part of any beach day: swimsuits!
Strawberry Milk Mob, a swimwear brand, has gone viral on TikTok in recent springs and summers for its eye-catching prints and designs. The floral print on the “Mariposa” suit is beautiful and way more fun than a basic black bikini.
While bikinis are considered the best for tanning, one-pieces and tankinis are chic and comfortable. The “Floral Vines Empire Waist One Piece,” from the adorable Roller Rabbit x Target collection, is a gorgeous swimsuit proving one-pieces are just as much fun as bikinis.
A long day of lounging on the beach calls for a refreshing shower and some dinner reservations— But not before stopping for a few sunset beach pictures while we are all dolled up.
This is the perfect opportunity for you and your friends to pull out some coordinating maxi dresses. Pretty pink skies and crystal-blue waters call for some spring pastels and florals, which is why the “Chiara Maxi Dress” from Petal and Pup is perfect with its pink statement florals and ruffle strap details reminiscent of a pink jellyfish.
A beautiful blue would perfectly complement the pastel pink, and the “Wallie Baby Blue Rhinestone Gown” from Miss Circle does just that with its ocean blue hue and rhinestones that feel inspired by water droplets and crashing waves.
For a pastel yellow dress to finish the photoshoot and dinner wardrobe, the “Larrisa Dress” from Meshki is a silk, pastel golden yellow dress with a unique pleated bodice evoking a seashell vibe.
These three dresses would look effortlessly stunning in front of a pink and blue beachy sunset. Don’t forget your digital cameras!
