MANHATTAN — Kansas State coach Jerome Tang spoke on the status of junior guard Mobi Ikegwuruka on Jan. 29, amid speculation about the guard’s extended absence from the team.
According to reports by the Topeka Capital Journal and a statement released by the program, Tang said Ikegwuruka remains with the team but is currently unavailable as he works through a personal situation.
“Mobi is dealing with a private matter and remains a member of our team,” Tang said. “He is eligible to be with us, but is not personally ready.”
Ikegwuruka has not appeared in a game since Jan. 7, when he logged just six minutes in K-State’s loss at Arizona. He also saw limited action in early January after missing multiple games in December.
The Galway, Ireland native has appeared in 10 games this season, averaging 1.9 points and two rebounds per contest, while shooting 57.1% from the field. He joined the Wildcats ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Tang has offered minimal public details regarding player absences this season, citing privacy considerations when asked about Ikegwuruka earlier this month.
