Jones, a guard from Illinois-Chicago, averaged 11.4 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds during his sophomore campaign this year. He recorded a 42.5% mark from the field and 37.8% from beyond the arc.

Standing at 6-foot-5, Jones profiles more as a wing than a prototypical guard, such as the Wildcats’ other transfer Dug McDaniel, freshman Dai Dai Ames and signee David Castillo.

Head coach Jerome Tang and his staff had a connection with Jones very early in the portal process as Jones was a high school teammate with K-State’s Macaeleb “Buddy” Rich. He commits after taking an official visit to Manhattan over the weekend.

Jones chose the Wildcats over other power programs such as Creighton, Illinois and Xavier.

K-State has an early stockpile of guards for the upcoming season. The attention of Tang’s staff will likely turn to bigs to fill the remaining three roster spots.
