At approximately 6:18 a.m. on Oct. 29, local restaurant Antojitos El Sol became the victim of a burglary, losing $1,280 cash and additional losses in building damages. It was reported to RCPD that an unknown individual forced entry into the business and stole the cash register.
Owner Rosendo Chavez was “deeply disappointed” by the events that occurred that morning, stating that the burglary caused extensive damage to his restaurant.
“Unfortunately, this is the world we live in,” Chavez said. “It was a big loss for the business, between money and damages, they were around $10,000.”
There are currently no arrests made in relation to the burglary, according to RCPD. RCPD issued a post on X, releasing security footage in an effort to identify the suspect.
Chavez remains enthusiastic and wants his customers to know the restaurant plans to continue its usual business.
“Besides that [the burglary], we are still here, open and ready to serve the community of Manhattan,” Chavez said. “Support local businesses now; we need you.”
RCPD Crimestoppers is seeking tips on the crime, which can be submitted anonymously and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Any tips can be reported to RCPD at (785) 537-2112 or Crime Stoppers at (785) 539-7777.
