Kansas State scored four runs in the seventh inning and five runs in the eighth inning to take a 13-9 lead, which they would hold on to for a comeback victory over Oklahoma State.
The Wildcats nine unanswered runs came after a power surge from the Cowboys that saw them hit five home runs in the afternoon, including three over the sixth and seventh innings.
The Friday night lights turned on for Kansas State as they matched up against Oklahoma State in game one of the ‘Cats second home series of the week.
The Wildcats started James Guyette on the hill, who pitched seven innings and gave up three runs on three hits. Guyette had a career high 12 strikeouts as well, bolstering K-State to a 11-3 win against the Cowboys.
Both purple lineups managed to secure a win, setting up the series decider in game 3. Unfortunately for Kansas State, Texas Christian would take control early and remain in charge for the duration of all nine innings, securing a 4-0 win.

With the weather feeling like a true spring evening, Kansas State had a competitive battle with the No. 24 Nebraska Huskers during a mid-week matchup on Tuesday.
Nebraska got the game started by scoring two runs on three hits in the first inning off of K-State starter Cohen Feser to take the lead 2-0. The Cornhuskers’ hot start was followed by silent bats from K-State in a three-up, three-down bottom half.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits didn’t get a base hit until the top of the third inning, as Kansas State’s pitching was dominant. More specifically, junior Austin Haley was dominant, striking out four batters while only allowing one hit through the first three innings.
Dee Kennedy homered for the eighth time this season as Kansas State took down Wichita State 7-5 in a contested back-and-forth battle.
“Good, clean, sound win in all phases of the game,” K-State head coach Pete Hughes said. “I was very happy with it. Our guys played with great energy and played clean baseball.”
