K-State’s new construction Track and Field Complex hosts DeLoss Dodds Invitational

Freshman Nen Matlock ran in the men’s 600-yard, finishing with a time of 1:09.48.

In May 2023, construction on the original Kansas State football practice facility began, transitioning the space into the Indoor Track and Field Complex.

Eight months later, K-State hosted the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on Feb. 2-3. The meet was the first held in the new facility.

Participating schools included Miami (Fla.), Texas Tech, Missouri and Oklahoma State. On the first day of the meet, Kade McCall set a new men’s weight throw school record of 21.72m/71-3.25. To end the meet, the men’s 4×400 relay of Eugene Omalla, Kyle Gale, Jaimie Omalla and Tavon Underwood set the indoor school record and No. 1 in the Big 12 with a time of 3:04.84.

The K-State Indoor Track and Field Complex will host its next tournament Feb. 16 for the Steve Miller Invitational.
