Andrej Kostic announced his desire to return to Kansas State in an Instagram post saying “I’m Back” and that there was “Unfinished Business”.
Last season for K-State, Kostic averaged 5.2 points per game on 37.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Serbian forward wasn’t able to get on the court much until the end of the season, but showed improvements over that time, particularly on defense.
Kostic will likely be a perfect fit in new head coach Casey Alexander’s offense because of his ability to shoot the three-ball at a high percentage. Last season at Belmont University, Alexander’s team was the top shooting three-point team in the nation.
As for coach Alexander, retaining Kostic allows him to work with one of the more naturally gifted scorers he has ever coached, as he finds a key piece to his offense going into next season.
Alexander still has his work cut out for him in finding players for next year’s team, but Kostic’s return is one less piece he has to find in his search.
Kostic will join high school commits, point guard Jaylen Alexander and shooting guard Devin Hutcherson — the only players committed to the Wildcats for next season — as the wait for players to announce their decisions continues.
