Skylar Thompson, QB, Miami Dolphins
Third-year backup quarterback Skylar Thompson stepped in during the Dolphins’ Thursday night matchup in Week 2 after starter Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion.
Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve, placing Thompson as the next man up on the Dolphins’ roster for the foreseeable future. Miami did sign former Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley, who could start as well.
Thompson went 8-of-14 on his limited attempts with 80 yards passing total in the 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Thompson will likely make his third career start against Seattle this Sunday.
Thompson, a former seventh-round selection, is the only player in Kansas State history with 6,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a career.
Deuce Vaughn, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Vaughn, seeing much action this year compared to his rookie campaign, had 11 yards on four carries in Week 2. He also added a reception for 11 yards in a 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
The 2023 sixth-rounder had 10 total offensive snaps against the Saints. The Cowboys, now 1-1 on the season, will host Baltimore on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL, Las Vegas Raiders
Whitehair, who is in his ninth season, helped the Raiders notch a 26-23 upset against the Baltimore Ravens.
The former pro bowler was in 36 offensive snaps and six special teams plays. The 1-1 Raiders will host Carolina in their home opener on Sunday.
Cooper Beebe, C, Dallas Cowboys
Beebe played in all 70 offensive snaps in the 44-19 loss to the Saints. The third-round pick made his second start of the season.
Dallas will host Baltimore on Sunday in a must-watch game as both teams look to bounce back.
Cornelius Lucas, OL, Washington Commanders
Lucas, a 10-year veteran, made his 47th career start in Washington’s 21-18 victory versus the New York Giants.
Lucas was in for 50 offensive snaps as the Commanders are now 1-1 and look to play Cincinnati on Monday night.
