The Kansas State Young Americans for Freedom will host Yeonmi Park, a North Korean defector, at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Student Union’s Flint Hills Room for her “Communism Kills” speech. The event is free with first-come-first-serve seating and doors open at 5 p.m.
According to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, Park’s “perilous escape from North Korea has given the world a window into the lives of its people.” At age 13, Park and her mother were sold into human trafficking before escaping to America years later. She now serves as a human rights activist and prominent social media presence, appearing on podcasts such as the Joe Rogan Experience and Shawn Ryan Show.
