No. 13 K-State (3-0)
The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together for Kansas State football following a top-20 blowout of Arizona last Friday.
Head coach Chris Klieman said the key to the victory started before the game, as a perfect day of preparation led to a near-perfect performance on the field.
After a rushed week of practice for a Friday night kickoff, K-State faces a new obstacle of waiting all day for a night kickoff at 9:30 p.m. CST.
“We had a really good plan for [last] Friday,” Klieman said. “Granted, we were at home, but we’re going to take that plan that we had and take it on the road to Provo.”
Klieman added he expects the Wildcats to be at full strength as they face their first road conference game of the season.
BYU (3-0)
Brigham Young University, picked 13th of 16 in the Big 12 preseason poll, has taken care of business thus far, beating Wyoming and SMU on the road and Southern Illinois at home.
BYU has the advantage of not only a home crowd backing their performance but the physical environment in the mountains.
LaVell Edwards Stadium is a beautiful setting, but K-State players will have to adjust to the altitude and the late kickoff to keep their energy high.
Junior dual-threat Jake Retzlaff is the Cougars’ quarterback. K-State’s defense will hope to rely on its practice against sophomore Avery Johnson in containing Retzlaff.
While K-State was tested by formidable opponents over the last two weeks, K-State is immediately the toughest opponent the Cougars have seen this fall.

“The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together for Kansas State football”. After last night’s disaster I’d say they need to reevaluate a few things.
