Kansas State men’s basketball found another piece to the puzzle for 2024-25. Head coach Jerome Tang and staff earned a commitment June 4 from Kentucky transfer Ugonna Onyenso.
Onyenso, a 7-foot big man, comes to Manhattan with two years of eligibility remaining. During his sophomore campaign with Kentucky he averaged 3.6 points and 4.8 rebounds across 18.6 minutes per game.
According to 247Sports, Onyenso was the highest-rated center available in the transfer portal. Out of high school, he was a national top 10 center prospect and the top-ranked recruit from Connecticut.
Wielding a 7-foot-5 wingspan, Onyenso brings size and length as a rim protector for the Wildcats. Over the final four games this season he collected three, four, two and five blocks respectively.
Onyenso withdrew from the NBA Draft process last week. He drew interest from several other Power 5 schools during his portal recruitment, most notably North Carolina.
Onyenso is the eighth portal acquired for the Wildcats this offseason. He joins other forwards and centers in Achor Achor, Baye Fall and Chimobi Ikegwuruka. Guards Dug McDaniel, Brendan Hausen, CJ Jones and Max Jones round out portal additions.
Many new additions, including four-star freshman David Castillo, have moved into Manhattan as summer workouts approach.

K-State has one remaining scholarship spot open for the upcoming season.
