Purple Power Animal Welfare Society paired up with Synergistic Fit Life Studio to host a kittens and pilates event on Sunday to help give adoptable kittens a chance to find their forever homes. They also held a puppies and pilates event on Saturday.
Cynthia Amano, owner of Synergistic Fit Life, said she will match donations to Purple PAWS 100% up to $500.
“We raised $262 with the matching of donations from both events, and all of it went to Purple PAWS,” Amano said. “If we can help, we’ll try.”
Susan Clasen, director of Purple PAWS, said the event is a fun way to raise money and a great experience for the animals.
“These are great events because we can even get the older animals out,” Clasen said. “People should come if they like dogs and cats because it’s therapeutic. Animals are therapeutic.”
Amano said she hopes to hold similar events in the future.
“My favorite events were the kittens and puppies,” Amano said. “I’ve always seen the yoga aspect and not pilates, so it was fun for me to experience it in a different way and a nice distraction. It’s been something I wanted to do for a while and I’m already discussing doing another event.”
Amano’s advice to anyone looking to volunteer or work with charities is to find an organization you’re interested in and see what you can do to help.
“With anybody who wants to volunteer, never feel embarrassed to ask,” Amano said. “Just reach out, go to an organization you’re passionate about and see what you can do. Even just posting on social media or participating in events.”
