A report was filed with Riley County police for theft and forgery at 4:34 p.m. Aug. 20 on the 5000 block of Skyway Drive. The Hi-Tech Interiors subsidiary, HTI Residential in Wichita, was listed as the victim.

According to a news release by RCPD, “… It was reported a known subject falsified multiple receipts for labor, finances and materials spanning back to 2017.”

Ashley Tokoi, RCPD public information officer, said the business calculated a loss of $120,000, accumulated from “numerous job sites in multiple cities and counties across Kansas.”

“The business became aware that there were some deficiencies either at the end of July or the very first part of August is what I’m tracking,” Tokoi said. “They ended up terminating the employee … on Aug. 5 because of what they had discovered. They were able to calculate everything and that’s when they made a report to us.” 

A representative from Hi-Tech Interiors declined to comment.
