Kansas State men’s basketball added a vertical threat to its 2024-25 roster, earning a commitment May 16 from junior college forward Chimobi Ikegwuruka.
Ikegwuruka, a native of Ireland, wrapped up his redshirt freshman campaign at Iowa’s Ellsworth Community College this season. Across 21 games, he averaged a double-double with 19 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in addition to 2.2 blocks.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Ikegwuruka joins two other wings on K-State’s roster — freshmen Macaleab Rich and Taj Manning. Ikegwuruka has three years of eligibility remaining, bringing time to further his athletic package in Manhattan.

Ikegwuruka was honored as an NJCAA Division II All-American for his efforts at Ellsworth this season, putting his name in the Power 5 prospect pool. He commits to K-State over Oregon State, St. Bonaventure and East Carolina.
Jerome Tang and staff dipped into the JUCO talent pool in the portal previously with the addition of former forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin, who is now participating in the NBA Draft Combine. Graduated guard Tylor Perry also played at the JUCO level.
Ikegwuruka is the sixth portal addition to the K-State roster this offseason. He joins guards Dug McDaniel, CJ Jones, Brendan Hausen and Max Jones — as well as center Baye Fall. K-State has three remaining scholarship spots for the upcoming season.
