Kansas State soccer is off to a fiery start for the 2025-26 season. The team is 5-1-1, but still has yet to compete against conference opponents. That all changed on Sept. 18, as the Wildcats faced off against Colorado in Boulder.
The Wildcats had a record of 3-12-3 last year, not winning a single conference game. That means this season, K-State already has more wins than the year prior. Senior Andra Mohler has seen it all, as she has played at K-State for all four years.
“I hope I was someone who came out, was consistent and wanted to get better every day,” Mohler said while discussing her legacy at K-State.
Mohler has four career goals, two of them coming from this current season. Mohler has been active and healthy this season, following a broken foot early last year. She was satisfied with the recovery process to get back on the field.
“Honestly, I was really blessed with my recovery road,” Mohler said. “With the way things ended last season, it was disappointing, so seeing myself and us as a team come back and be super resilient is good.”
How was this flame within the team ignited? Sophomore Hannah Palmer believes one pivotal moment came in the team’s summer trip to Italy.
“It was my first opportunity to play with new teammates and build confidence,” Palmer said.
This season, Palmer has improved in her second year at K-State. She scored three goals so far, whereas last season she scored one. She is tied for most shots on goal with nine, showing more aggression compared to last season, where she had four.
Palmer has proved she is a factor for the Wildcats and believes K-State is capable of showing validity.
“I think this is our first chance to really prove ourselves and do something great,” Palmer said.
The other player tied with the most shots on goal is fellow sophomore Allison Marshall. Marshall believes her role within the team has grown, which has made her more vocal.
“I feel like coming into my sophomore year, I have grown in my voice and my leadership,” Marshall said. “I’m hoping to carry that on for the rest of the season and into Big 12 play.”
Marshall has three goals on the year, as she and Palmer look to be the primary goal scorers. The second-year player is excited, but says there’s some proving to do.
“We know that we’re underdogs going into a lot of matches,” Marshall said. “So we’re ready to prove people wrong for sure.”
Mohler has played on different kinds of K-State teams in her four years as a Wildcat, but says there is something different about this season.
“I think this is the most prepared that I felt our team has been since I’ve been here,” Mohler said. “I think we’re ready to step up and make some noise.”
