Former Kansas State men’s basketball All-American Michael Beasley added another notch to his esteemed career after being named the 2024 BIG3 Most Valuable Player last week.
The BIG3 is a 3-on-3 league founded by the musician Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz in 2017. The 12-team league is composed of both former NBA and international players based on the 3-on-3 style seen in the FIBA and the Olympics.
Beasley averaged 21.3 points per game, in addition to grabbing over six rebounds per game for his team, 3’s Company.
The squad fell short of a BIG3 championship after falling 50-47 against Bivouac in the title game. Beasley led the way with 28 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.
Beasley’s teammates include former Kansas star Mario Chalmers, former Iowa star Reggie Evans, Boston College’s Sean Williams and Florida A&M’s Nasir Core.
In his lone season at Manhattan, Beasley averaged 26.2 points — which was third in the nation — and a nation-best 12.4 rebounds. He was named Big 12 Player of the Year and received unanimous first-team All-American honors.
Beasley was selected No. 2 overall in the 2008 NBA Draft before jumping around rosters for 11 NBA seasons and eventually moving overseas to the Chinese Basketball Association.
