Head coach Chris Klieman
On the Colorado offense…
“I think [Shedeur] Sanders will be the first quarterback picked off the board … I think he’s an excellent thrower. You can’t really confuse him.”
“I’ve seen a lot of different teams try to manipulate coverage in disguise, and he does a really good job pre-snap to post-snap. He can make all the throws and has a lot of guys to throw the football to.”
On the Colorado defense…
“They’re going to be aggressive. We’re going to see probably a lot of man coverage and some pressure. We have to be able to win in man coverage, and we have to be able to find ways to run the football.”
On adjusting from Provo hardships…
“We’re doing a few things on Friday and Saturday to adjust to what we’re doing with the guys, whether we’re up on our feet or watching film or getting them away from it too.”
“It still comes down to [when they] blow that whistle and what you do between the white lines, are you prepared? Do you make great decisions? And do you play really fast?”
Quarterback Avery Johnson
On Dylan Edwards facing his old team…
“This is probably one that he wants a lot because whenever you play against an old school, you definitely want to have your best game and be able to contribute to the win.”
“But ultimately, I don’t think he looks at it that way. I think he looks at it as just like any other week. Doesn’t want to let the game get to him too much, just go out there and play his game and do what he does best — get the ball and be explosive with it.”
On handling Colorado’s pressure…
“We have to do a really good job of preparing … Ways we can get the ball to my hand quickly if they do want to bring pressure … ways we can identify the pressure before it happens.”
“To be able to pick it up so we don’t have any miscommunications between the offensive line, me and the running back. [If] we can get those things squared away pre-snap we are going to be as effective as we want to be.”
Offensive lineman Hadley Panzer
On the offensive miscues at BYU…
“I’ll give it to BYU that their crowd was very good. In my opinion, I think [the loss] was a lack of execution — lack of focus. I’ll be the first one to say that I had a holding call and a false start, just a lack of focus is what that was.”
On success blocking for DJ Giddens…
“He’s going to get those yards after contact. I’m always telling the running backs all the time, ‘If they get wrapped up, just keep those feet moving because the boys are coming to push that pile.’ I think DJ does that really well.”
