I believe that all parties must provide snacks. A snack can be a collection of cold cuts or a delectable assortment of baked treats. People need sustenance! My go-to is a classic spicy guacamole. A good guacamole has three things: freshness, citrus, and salt. Warning: This bowl packs a punch. The peppers are optional if your guests find it too hot to handle. I typically make a tiny bowl of the hot stuff and a large bowl of traditional guac.
