If you know where to look, Kansas State has a lot to offer — so much that sometimes it’s overwhelming. Social media can be a great tool to navigate this, but finding the right accounts can be challenging for new students. To make things easier and to find information tailored to your interests, here’s a list of Instagram accounts I recommend following to stay in the loop.
University
@kansasstateuniversity
The official university account posts everything from events to photography to university-wide spotlights and announcements. It’s a mosaic of what makes Manhattan a home away from home.
@kstatelibraries
Want free K-State stuff? How about a curated study playlist? From a book club to an occasional putt-putt tournament, K-State Libraries has you covered, and its Instagram account is just one of the many ways it connects students with resources.
@kstateUPC
The Union Program Council plans events for students by students. It helps organize events like the Yung Gravy concert in April and the annual charity drag show — so if you like having fun, follow the UPC.
@sgakstate
Keeping up with the Student Governing Association can help you get to know your student representatives and become familiar with their decisions about campus.
Sports
@kstatesports
This is the official K-State sports page, highlighting everything from kickoff to athlete spotlights. Plus, it even reposted a Minecraft build of Bill Snyder Stadium. Need I say more?
@kstate_students
This is the official account for the K-State student section. It posts reminders about student tickets, upcoming games and more. It also has a link in its bio with helpful information, like how to download gameday passes.
Student Life
@barstoolkstate
Barstool K-State is not affiliated with the university, but is a page dedicated to the K-State’s sports and culture — usually through memes. You’re not getting the whole college experience if you aren’t following Barstool.
@kstatechicks
K-State Chicks is like the barstool account, but geared more toward pop-culture and entertainment. The girls that get it, get it.
Clubs and student organizations
The Princeton Review just ranked K-State students as the friendliest in the nation — again — so for anyone looking to try something new, K-State is the place to do it. One of the easiest ways to connect with new people is to join a club, and a good club account has information on upcoming meetings and events.
Your favorite local businesses
Local shops post everything from seasonal menu items to store-wide student discounts. So, if you like a particular coffee shop or vintage pop-up, follow them to stay in the know. Plus, it helps the local businesses out, t oo.
Academics
Follow K-State accounts dedicated to your major or minor to see posts about new classes, department events, scholarship and networking opportunities and more. Plus, sometimes they post fun facts relating to your major.
You can also follow your specific school at K-State, which is similar to the department posts, but across departments within your field. They also typically post information on university events, socials and enrollment.

News
@wildcat919fm
Wildcat 91.9 is K-State’s student-run radio station, broadcasting everything from music to sports to Dungeons and Dragons. It has content on the radio and online, and posts about local news and events on Instagram. Fun Fact: it’s also the nation’s longest continuously-running college radio station.
@kstatecollegian
The Collegian has informed our readers about what’s happening around campus — and occasionally made cool lists like this — since 1896, making us the oldest university newspaper in the state. With sports, culture, news and more: nobody knows students better than students, so let us help be your guide to everything K-State.
